What happens in Transylvania stays in Transylvania… or does it?

For the past 10 years, at the end of October, Brasov has been the scene of the spookiest and most thrilling event there is for fall: Halloween in Transylvania. Being one of ESN Romania’s trademark events, it was bound to be a HiT *pun intended* considering that this time around it came to be in the European Year of Youth as well, coincidentally (or not). ESN Suceava was present as always, bringing people from all corners of the world and keeping the tradition alive.

The aim of this event was to give our youthful Erasmus students a taste of what Romanian culture is, in all its spooky beauty. With this in mind, let’s recall some of the activities that took place: during daytime, students got to visit Brasov in all its autumnal glory, smothered themselves in garlic then cautiously proceeded towards Bran castle where they got a glimpse of Dracula’s settings. Peles castle was the next target, this time the students being amazed with the lavishly furnished decorum. Besides the castles, they got their blood running by taking part in a big Flag Parade and later in a Treasure Hunt.

In the light of the European Year of Youth, there was a celebration held under the name of Erasmus Generation Summit, where our students got to choose between several fun activities such as: Rasnov Citadel Tour, City Hunt, Documentary film, Silent Walks, Participative Workshops or even Upcycling and Crafting Workshops.

When the sun set and the werewolves started howling you could feel that was the thrill the students were yearning for. Needless to say, things went down at the Glow in the Dark Party, for then to wrap it up the final day in a grand manner at Halloween Party.

Ghosts and goblins came to play in October’s final days, memories were made while our students played and we wouldn’t have had it any other way. See you next year… or not?
